Home - Takes you to the Support Web site. Help - Takes you to the Help page. Exit X - Closes the current module page and brings you back to
the Course Access page. Next and Previous - Allows you to navigate to the next or previous
pages in the course modules. Top - Brings you back to the top of the page.
TIPS FOR USING THE COURSE
Important: To properly view and complete this course, at a minimum,
users must have:
A PC (not a Mac) with 56 Kb modem access to the Internet.
Flash
Player 8.0 installed; if the image on the right changes when you
click on it, you already have Flash Player 8.0 installed on your computer.
Throughout the course you will encounter Flash scenarios. Simply click
Play to begin. Once you have finished, click NEXT to proceed
to the following page.
ARE YOU HAVING PROBLEMS SEEING THE FLASH ANIMATIONS?
If you have a High Security level on your Web browser, you will not
be able to view the animations. Please follow these steps to reduce
your security level. You should then be able to see the flash animations.
Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
Double click Internet Options.
Select the Security tab.
Click Custom Level.
From the Reset custom settings drop-down menu, select Medium.
From the Settings window, make the following changes to the
ActiveX controls and plugins (there are 5 sections):
1st section - Select: Prompt
2nd section - Select: Disable
3rd section - Select: Disable
4th section - Select: Enable
5th section - Select: Enable
Click OK.
ARE YOU HAVING PROBLEMS WITH POPUPS?
Internet Explorer versions 6.0 and above have a built-in popup blocker.
If a popup is being blocked, you will see a yellow bar at the top of
your Internet Explorer window.
To allow popups for this Web site, click on the yellow
bar and select Always Allow Pop-ups from This Site...
If you have done all these steps and your popups are still
being blocked, hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard at the
same time as you click on the hyperlink.
TIPS FOR SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING AN ONLINE COURSE
Schedule a block of time to do the course, you may prefer to do
it in half hour sittings.
Take notes for future use and to prepare for the final test.
Avoid distractions:
Turn off your email.
Turn off your phone.
Close your door and/or hang up a "do not disturb"
sign.
COMPLETING A MODULE
Once you have completed the last quiz question in each module, click
EXIT X the top right corner of the screen. The page will close and
you will see the main menu page that lists all the modules. Click on
the next module that you wish to complete.
COMPLETING THE COURSE
To complete the course, you have to finish all the mandatory modules
and the practicum. The progress bar found on the main menu page indicates
whether or not you have completed the module.
CLICKING ON LINKS
There are links to the Support Web site or other sites on the Internet
throughout the course. When you click on a link, a new window will open
up on your screen and you will be able to see the module page you are
completing located behind it. To close the window, click on the X in
the top right corner. You will then see the module page in full.
SAVE IT TO YOUR FAVOURITES!
We suggest that once you have signed onto the course that you save
it under your 'Favourites' in your Internet browser as it may upload
faster the next time you sign on.
SCREEN SIZE
This course is best viewed with 800 by 600 pixel resolution.
If you can't see the full page on your screen, you need to change the
resolution of your computer monitor. Please follow these simple steps:
Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
Double-click Display.
Select the Settings tab.
Under Screen Area (or Screen resolution), move the
toggle to 800 by 600 pixels.
Click OK.
DO YOU WANT TO INCREASE THE FONT SIZE?
If the text you are reading is too small or too big, follow these instructions:
From your Internet browser's menu bar, click View > Text
Size.
Select the text size you would like to use.
PRINTING
The full screen is used to display text however some text may not be
printed out in full if you do not set your printing options to 'Landscape'.
To do this, follow these instructions:
In the page you would like to print, right-click and select Print.
When the grey dialogue box opens, select the Layout tab.
Under Orientation, select the radio button beside the word
Landscape.
